Lutein-stevioside nanoparticle attenuates H2O2-induced oxidative damage in ARPE Cells

In order to improve the bioavailability of lutein (LUT), a novel lutein-stevioside nanoparticle (LUT-STE) were prepared previously, but information about LUT-STE on protecting eye health was limited. This study investigated effect antioxidant activity H2O2-induced human retinal pigment epithelial cells (ARPE) cells. LUT and (final concentration 5 μg/mL) significantly enhanced cell viability from (74.84 ± 5.10)% (81.92 10.01)% (89.33 4.34)% (LUT-STE), inhibited apoptosis (P < 0.05). After pretreatment with in ARPE cells, contents superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) glutathion peroxidase (GSH-PX) increased 0.05), reactive oxygen species (ROS) malondialdehyde (MDA) decreased. addition, vascular-endothelial-cell-growth -factor levels (VEGF) by 13.61%, 17.39%, respectively, LUT-STE. Western blotting results showed that expression caspase-9 protein caspase-3 up-regulated Bcl-2 /Bax pathway inhibit apoptosis. summary, delivery had more pronounced inhibitory damage
